- 0': The big team news for Arsenal is that Thierry Henry only makes the bench. All the talk throughout the week had centered around whether he was fit to start or play and Arsene Wenger has decided his star striker is not ready to make the starting 11.
- 0': Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor and defender Kolo Toure - both currently serving a domestic suspension - were included in the Arsenal line-up, with Brazilian Julio Baptista also up front.
- 0': The players are out on the pitch, we've had the Champions League anthemn and we're ready to start.
- 0': And PSV, in their changed strip of all blue get the game underway.
- 1': Early corner for PSV but it's wasted and Arsenal can clear.
- 2': It's a fiery start with Arsenal looking to chase down the ball every time a PSV player gets near it.
- 3': The visitors are enjoying the first spell of controlled possession. They look comfortable on the ball and look to spread it around the park.
- 4': Another corner for PSV and this time Fabregas is there to head clear.
- 5': It's not the start Arsenal were looking for and look a little nervous. PSV are dictating the pace of the game and Arsenal have been forced into a couple of silly mistakes.
- 7': Powerful, pacy run from Toure down the right gets him some room inside the box but he gets caught in two minds and his shot only finds the side netting. Fabregas and Baptista were screaming for it to be pulled back across.
- 8': Better from Arsenal now as Fabregas and Denilson look to get the Gunners pushing forward.
- 10': A stoppage in play as Gallas leaves the field. The Frenchman has lost a contact lense and has shot off down the tunnel to find a replacement.
- 11': Jefferson Farfan spins and fires in a tame shot that finds the side netting. An early warning sign from the Peruvian striker.
- 12': A nice flowing move involving Denilson and Hleb down the right ends with Ljungberg fouling his marker with a push. It was a decent chance to get in a header but instead PSV have a free-kick.
- 13': First real chance of the match and it falls to Adebayor. It was a wonderful pin-point pass from Fabregas to find him inside the penalty area, but thwe keeper did well to smother at Adebayor's feet.
- 15': A low, stinging corner for Arsenal causes a brief moment of panic before PSV can clear. Arsenal look more settled now.
- 17': Adebayor again finds himself a yard of space inside the PSV box, but this time the referee's assistant has his flag raised.
- 17': Neat turn by Hleb inside the box and he manages to get his shot off, no danger though and PSV clear.
- 19': At the other end Farfan gives Gilberto a few problems and almost catches him out. The Arsenal skipper returns to his feet and prevents the striker from passing.
- 21': Two chances inside a minute for Arsenal. Two decent chances too. The first a low drive from the right hand edge of the box from Toure is palmed away. The second a header from Adebayor that glances wide when it should really have made the keeper work.
- 22': Arsenal remember need to win by to clear goals if they are to progress. They've had a handful of chances now and not taken any of them.
- 23': Alex is working hard in the PSV box. So far he's headed away any danger in the air to great effect. The latest from a Clichy free-kick from the left.
- 24': Another chance for Arsenal and this time it's Baptista who's fired over. It was an acrobatic volley from 12 yards after Fabregas' neat pass and it should have hit the target.
- 25': Much more possession for the home side now. But PSV are holding their own in defence.
- 27': Adebayor is causing all sorts of problems up front but so far Alex has been sweeping up the danger brilliantly.
- 28': Arsenal are still pressing, searching for that important strike and Fabregas gets in behind the back four and fires the ball across the penalty area. No one attacks it and PSV can hack it clear.
- 30': The Spaniard is lucky to escape a booking inside his own half with a cynical challenge on Kone that leave the Ivorian in a heap on the deck.
- 32': Great chance for PSV as Cocu steals into the box and plants his header inches wide. It came from a pin-point cross from the right by Mendez and the veteran midfielder will wonder how he didn't find the target from so close in.
- 34': Hleb weaves his way through a cluster of blue shirts on the edge of the PSV box but is eventually outmuscled by Salcido. The visitors are starting to frustrate the Gunners.
- 35': A moment of Brazilian skill from Baptista almost brings the Arsenal crowd to their feet. It was an overhead kick from the edge of the box and it flew wide. Not by much though.
- 38': The first time Adebayor gets the chance to escape the clutches of Alex, Feher is across to cover and stop the striker in his tracks whilst bearing down on goal.
- 38': Kone looks to be limping after that hefty challenge from Fabregas.
- 39': Gilberto gets into all sorts of problems when put under pressure from Farfan. He ends up bringing down his marker but the referee waves away penalty appeals.
- 40': Kone can't continue. He's had to come off injured and he's been replaced by Tardelli.
- 41': A scrappy end to the half with Arsenal not able to get a hold of the game. Ljungberg has been ineffective down the right and Arsenal need more from him.
- 44': PSV look to hold on to the ball in the final stages of the half as they look to preserve their lead. So far they're doing it very well.
- 45': HALF-TIME: Arsenal 0-0 PSV Eindhoven.
- 45': No change in the aggregate score despite Arsenal's intensity. PSV have Alex to thank for the score being tied at 0-0, although Arsenal will be rueing a host of missed chances.
- 45': Still no Henry for Arsenal. He retakes his place on the bench as the players on the field restart the match.
- 47': Koeman emerges from the tunnel and takes his seat in the dugout with his side just 45 minutes away from the quarter-finals.
- 48': Henry goes on a light jog down the touchline. He hasn't trained for the last few weeks and he hasn't been at his best when he has played, but Arsenal need a goal and they may turn to him to find it.
- 48': Fabregas complicates matters down the right and Arsenal waste a corner and present PSV with a goal kick.
- 49': Arsenal get more of the ball and Adebayor drives at the PSV defence. But PSV again repel the danger and come away with the ball.
- 50': Arsenal are giving the ball away frequently now and with it vital possession. They are starting to look desperate and panicky and it's looking too rushed.
- 52': Baptista appeals for a foul after falling to the ground under the challenge from Xiang. The referee is having none of it and the move breaks down.
- 53': PSV enjoy a spell of possession and for a brief moment open up the Gunners down the left.
- 54': Feher earns himself a yellow card for a lunging dive on Ljungberg.
- 55': The game has turned scrappy and that is harming Arsenal's game. If anything, PSV are starting to look the more composed side.
- 57': GOAL: ARSENAL 1-0 PSV EINDHOVEN
- 57': Arsenal are in front and it's the brilliant Brazilian Alex who has put through his own net. Denilson's corner from the right evaded everyone and Alex simply hung out a boot and it trickled over the line.
- 59': Fantastic save from Gomes prevents Adebayor from making it two. It was a long ball over the top and Adebayor fired it straight at the keeper.
- 60': A minute later and Fabregas skies a glorious chance. Hleb set him up on the edge of the box and the Spaniard failed to keep his shot down.
- 61': It's end-to-end stuff and Mendez at the other end fires in a clever shot that just whistles wide. The crowd are lifted and the game is intense.
- 62': Arsenal have fallen back into their own half and PSV are looking to come at Arsenal now and kill the tie with the away goal.
- 63': The game is so open now and both sides are streaking forward. Arsenal are lucky to get away with a penalty appeal after Denilson upends Farfan.
- 64': Henry will finally be given his chance to come on and it's Baptista who comes off.
- 67': What a game this is turning into. PSV are playing with a renewed belief and are finding gaps in the Arsenal defence as the Gunners pile forward.
- 67': Henry is given his first chance to run at the defence but it ends with him clutching his shin after a crunching challenge by Alex. He didn't look too sharp breaking out.
- 69': Henry's back on his feet and is quickly becoming the focal point of every Arsenal attack.
- 70': PSV look to have weathered the Arsenal storm and are streaming out of defence with much more regularity.
- 71': Farfan is causing Gilberto all sorts of problems with his pace and Arsenal are struggling to deal with him.
- 73': Henry has a cheeky punt from 25 yards and the keeper almost spills it. He gathers at the second attempt after fumbling the first.
- 74': Arsenal decide to change things around with Abou Diaby replacing the tired legs of Ljungberg.
- 76': Great chance for Gallas from Henry's free-kick. He got past his marker but somehow failed to make contact on the precise pass.
- 77': Henry looks to be in a great deal of pain. He's hobbling around and I can't see him playing to much longer.
- 78': Maybe with his last touch of the game, Henry whips a free-kick over the wall and forces Gomes into a diving save.
- 79': Good spell of possession for Arsenal but no sign of penetrating the PSV defence.
- 80': Arsenal again over-complicate matters on the PSV box and the Dutch side smother the ball and clear their lines. Arsenal just can't find a way through this stubborn resistance.
- 81': Fabregas goes into the book for a late lunge on Xiang. He's looking tired now, as are most of his team-mates.
- 82': Hleb gives away a needless free-kick by the corner flag, handding PSV a chance to cross.
- 82': ARSENAL 1-1 PSV EINDHOVEN
- 83': And that silly foul from Hleb has led to Arsenal heading out of this tournament. It was a majestic leap from Alex who climbed above Diaby to nod home.
- 84': Walcott comes on for Clichy in a last-ditch chance to claw something back. It's too late now though.
- 85': Arsenal are shellshocked. And Cocu drives a shot that scrapes along the sidenetting.
- 86': The Arsenal players' body language says it all. They look dejected, tired and distraught.
- 88': PSV make a change with Addo coming on for Farfan.
- 89': The game is ebbing away and Arsenal's intensity is completely gone. They're heading out and they only have themselves to blame.
- 90': The Arsenal fans are pouring out of the stadium as they know they are heading out of the competition in which they made the final last season.
- 90': Three minutes will be added. But it won't change matters too much.
- 92': Ronald Koeman is on his feet barking some instructions. Wenger in the other dugout has his head in his hands.
- 93': FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 1-1 PSV EINDHOVEN
- 93': Arsenal are out of the Champions League thanks to Alex's late header. The defender was immense throughout but Arsenal only have themselves to blame after wasting a whole host of chances in both legs.
